Fitting guides

Do it once, do it right.

Most failed LED upgrades are a wiring problem, not a product problem. These are the four things that go wrong most often and how to avoid them.

These are general guides, not model-specific instructions. Every car routes its wiring differently. If you are not confident with a multimeter, use an auto electrician. Warranty does not cover damage from an incorrect install.

Rear reflector brake lights

60–90 minutes Professional recommended
  1. 1The rear bumper has to come off. On most Maruti and Tata models that is six to ten push rivets and four screws (keep a spare clip pack; they break).
  2. 2Pop the blank reflector out of its housing from behind. Do not lever the painted face.
  3. 3Tap the supplied loom into the existing brake feed and a switched earth. Test before you seal.
  4. 4Seal the housing with the gasket supplied. Water behind the lens is the single biggest cause of failure in this category.

Headlight conversion kits

30–45 minutes Professional recommended
  1. 1Anything over 100 W needs a relay harness fed straight from the battery. Running a 320 W kit off the factory switch will cook the switch.
  2. 2Check the bulb seats at the same depth as the halogen it replaces. Wrong depth means a scattered beam.
  3. 3Re-aim the headlights after fitting. A bright beam pointed wrong is worse than a dim one aimed right.
  4. 4If the car throws a bulb-out warning, you need a CANbus decoder, not a different bulb.

Wiring and power

Varies Read before any install
  1. 1Use an add-a-circuit fuse tap rather than splicing into a live feed. It keeps the circuit fused and reversible.
  2. 2Reversed polarity kills an LED driver instantly and is not covered by warranty. Check with a multimeter, not by guessing wire colour.
  3. 3Crimp and heat-shrink. Twisted-and-taped joints corrode within a monsoon.
  4. 4Earth to bare metal, not to a painted panel.

Interior ambient lighting

2–3 hours Patience required
  1. 1Most of the job is tucking fibre into the dashboard and door card seams with a trim tool, not electrical work.
  2. 2Dry-fit the whole run before you peel any adhesive.
  3. 3Power from a switched USB or accessory feed so it turns off with the ignition.
  4. 4Leave a service loop at each door hinge so the fibre does not snap when the door opens.
